Joan is a writer, actor, director and lesbian filmmaker based in Penzance, Cornwall

Formerly Media Development Coordinator for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly at Creative Kernow, Joan went on to join Cornwall Film as the Coordinator for Cornwall Media Focus, the sector business network.

Shorts in development

Joan is currently working on a short film: Soul Mates, a late night meeting between a vampire and a ghost.  Shooting took place over 3 nights in November.  The film is currently in post!  Hot on its heels, and inspired by the famous Cornish tale; Mermaids of Zennor, set in the days of Poldark, will be filmed early next year.  For more info, click here.

Feature length screenplays

Bird of Prey is a psychological thriller set in a remote women's refuge in Cornwall.  Under Fire is a lesbian love story set during the First World War in which an anti-suffragist falls for the suffragette who set fire to her MP father's house when they both volunteer to serve with the Scottish Women's Hospitals.


Film Jury - Iris Prize Film Festival, 2017

As a member of the International Jury for the Iris Prize Film Festival 2017, Joan helped choose the winner of this year's competition who received £30,000 to help them make their next short film. Terrific prize! Terrific Film Festival.
